Americans are obsessed with doctors.
And since money is the all-important end of every endeavor by the media...why not make a show called "The Doctors" for all of America to idolize and watch? That way 'we' can tune in everyday to see what the LATEST in medical technology is and figure out how to put it to good use!
YEAH! (dripping sarcasm)
Check out this link for some more information on this newest TV show by Dr. Phil and what it might mean for the homebirth/natural community.
I have already written my letter. Now it is your turn!

I watched about 2 minutes of this show yesterday... long enough to hear the OB say that birth control in prescription form is NOT a choice. Whatever.
I tuned in today to hear about the new HPV vaccine. There was a story of a girl who dropped to the floor having a seizure within 2 minutes of the inoculation and the docs said that they didn't see any correlation. Yeah right... These guys (and gals) are bought and paid for, obviously!
I'll not be watching this extremely biased, tow the line of the AMA show again. That is unless they end up having a homebirth show. I imagine that I'll really be fired up after that one. Dreadful!!!
Yeah, I cannot bring myself to watch the show. I am sure I will at some point if I happen to be sitting on the couch with some peace and quiet.
HA!
The problem is all the people whose minds are numb and who allow others to think for them and make decisions based on what other people think is good....THOSE people watching the show are what concerns me.
You're talking about MOST of Americans... yeah, I know THOSE people!
Yepper, they are the same people that want the government to take over America -and their lives- and 'save them' from all the 'bad' stuff that happens to them...
O.k.... the show on homebirth aired here between 10-11 am. I only yelled at the tv twice! I was tempted more often. :) One of the docs on the show said that 4 (I believe) of his siblings were born at home! However, they failed to allow him in on the discussion. It was feared based, as most medical shows are. It talked about shoulder dystocia and cords around the neck, etc. All of which my dream team of midwives can handle in stride! My last baby actually had a tight cord and Debbie somersaulted him out into the water. The medical model may have cut the cord prior to his birth depriving him of oxygen. Very dangerous! My other beef... the OB actually said that NEVER do OBs make decisions based on their convenience!!! WHAT???? She needs to read "Pushed" by Jennifer Block who interviewed OBs that admit to this. She didn't try to say that the percentage is low. When asked how often this happens, she actually said "zippo!" Whatever!!!!
I heard them advertising that they were going to do plastic surgery right there on set. Not sure what procedure and when. But isn't is odd that they'd take the "risk" of not being in an OR with all their equipment??? Or can the bring the equipment they need for safety with them... oh yeah... like midwives do!!!!
You should try to catch it later today out there! :) I'd love to hear your feed back! (It was the first 30 minutes of the show, so not an hour long commitment.) I wish I could contact the poor couple who is "trying" to make the decision about homebirth. They need advice from people other than doctors!
it comes on at 1 p.m. her...so i will letcha know how it goes :)
